Letter To Me

Dear Shelby,

How are you doing? Remember me? I'm you at age 16. You're much older now, but I just wanted to remind you of what you used to be, the dreams you started out with, and the things you cared about most.

Let's start with personality. You were a cluts. No lie. Straight up. Cannot get around it. If there was an inventor of new ways to trip, you were her. You were funny. You always made your friends laugh, even though usually it was AT you, not WITH you; that was okay too, though. You were a Christian. God was VERY important to you. Can you say WORRY WART?? That was you, too.

You loved your family, and enjoyed spending time with them all. One of your favorite childhood memories was when the whole family would go muddin' with our four-wheeler and go-cart. That was one of your favorite ways to spend time with Mom, Dad, and Rachel.

Your best friends were Amber Stembridge, Macie Mayrell, Colby Hunter, Courtney Ishmael, and Katie olach. That was the group you loved. They were always there for you. Of course, you fought ALL THE TIME, but you all knew that you loved each other.

Your favorite school memory was your Eighth Grade graduation and the Monte Carlo party that followed. One of your most proud accomplishments was being the Valedictorian. You felt so special that night, and you got to celebrate growing older with your friends and family watching. You were so nervous during your speech, but you enjoyed it because all eyes were on you. At the Monte Carlo party you danced with Macie. You danced and acted crazy, even though you both were TERRIBLE dancers!!

The ways that you liked to spend your time were playing softball, basketball, singing, going to church at Kingston Baptist church, and hanging out with your family, friends, and boyfriend. You had played softball ever since you were in first grade, and always loved it!! It started getting really difficult and time-consuming in high school, but you knew that it was something that you would never put down. Singing was you. No matter where you were, you wanted to sing. You couldn't play a song without singing right along with it. You loved your church!! The preacher, Brother Ronnie Hickey, was great! The whole church was just so full of love; it really felt like family to you.

Worries...boy did you have them. You worried alot about your relationship with God. Grades were VERY important to you; anything that was less than a 90 didn't suit you. Excelling in softball was a worry for you. You were so afraid to mess up during the games, or rather, the reactions you would get from messing up during the games. And of course you worried about boys (typical teenage girl).

You hoped to get a scholarship for softball and grades. You also wanted to eventually get to sing professionally. You didn't care if you were famous, but you really wanted to be heard. [So, has any of this worked out for ya?] You wanted to start a family when you grew up. You wanted to find the man God made for you, get married, and have two to four kids and settle down.

I don't know if all of your dreams came true, but I hope that most of them did. I just wanted to remind you of you. Take care of me!!!!
