A Special Kickoff for Special Citizens

Friday night marked the official beginning of Blue Devil Football.  Prior to game time, forty Blue Devil Senior Citizens gathered in the Celeste gym for their own special kickoff.  CHS Principal Ricky Beadles introduced the Celeste High School cheerleaders, drum corps, and dance team, which presented their halftime performances. "My desire was to celebrate these honored guests for their contributions and support of our high school students and to connect this current generation with our community's most valuable citizens. I was very excited with the tremendous turnout," said Mr. Beadles. Superintendent Collin Clark thanked everyone for their attendance, and told them how fortunate our community is to have such priceless role models for our young people. "There's a lot of wisdom sitting in these stands right now," replied Mr. Clark.  After the performances, the group adjourned to the Celeste HS Snack Bar where a lasagna dinner, complete with a garden salad, breadsticks, fruit and cookies, was served. Members of the Celeste FFA served as waiters, tending to the guests' every request.  Each senior citizen was also presented with a royal blue Celeste Football cap and an all-sports home game pass.  A special thanks to Phyllis Thacker for preparing the delicious meal.
