A Letter to Me

By Macie Mayrell

Year 2008- sophmore

If I could write a letter to me, and send it into time to my self at 43, first I'd prove it was me by asking,"Have you became organized? Remember your locker, it was always like an avanlanche, waiting to colapse."
Family always meant a lot to you, I hope you haven't lost that. Remember when the whole family was on a vacation in Galveston? You were still taking care of Bessie, your BB's friend who was wheel-chaire bound. All of the adults, except Bessie were in the Beach house helping uncle Spunk cook his nasty Gumbo , and the kids were down at the beach. All of a sudden, it just started pouring down raining! Bessie hated for her hair to be wet, so you took off running as fast as you could screaming" Hold on Bessie, Im comming!" About the time you got up there, the adults had came out on the porch and Bessie was soaking wet, crying and laughing at the same time. She was always a sweet and great lady! Those were good times! I hope you haven't forgotten Bessie, she died Feburary 18, 2008, your sophmore year. You were really upset, but you knew she was in a better place.
You always excelled when it came to school. Your favorite classes where English,Art and Tech Prep. You always did really well in most of the subjects, Math was your weakness. However, you were very strong-willed and refused to even think about failing! You loved your friends, they ment everything to you! Shelby Stubblefield and Amber Stembridge were your besties! You had a lot of other friends who deserve honorable mention: Andrea Lyday, Andrew Hackler, Logan Curtiss, Colby Eason, Brooke Burden, and others one too. Remeber Art Class, when shelby was talking about someone going to h-e-double hocky sticks and you were like,"SHELBY don't say that!" She leaned over to you and while saying" Well what do you want me to say, go to Antartica?" she fell out of the chair and hit the floor. Andrew , your art buddy started busting out laughing and so did you and Shelby! That was really funny, as usually, you laughed untill you cried.
You were very active in extracurricular activites as well as other activites with the church youth group. You had accomlished many things as a 16 year old. The one thing that you were most proud of was going to Nationals in FCCLA- you and your cousin Chase won! Nashville, Tennesse was da bomb! It was a great time to hang out with friends, and also visit and see beautiful sites. The Gaylord Opryland hotel was amazing...the biggest thing that a girl from a small town had ever seen. I hope you haven't forgotten that experience- it was amazing!
As a 16 -year-old girl from Celeste America, you had several things that were important to you. The one thing that you loved was One-Act Play. Acting was your passion that you discovered in 8th grade. You love acting with all of your heart. How football was important to Scott, acting was important to you. You loved to watch movies. Friends were important to you, family was as well. You loved fashion, it was important to look nice when necessary. Grades were very important too. Art was a period in school that you loved because it allowed you to let go of all the problems and stress that life brought. All you had to do was just paint, or draw, or shade- whatever it was it was calming and renewing. Last, but definately not least, God was important to you.
You were always a worry wart. You worried and stressed about alot of things - and your momma would always say" Stop worring everything will be fine". I don't know if you ever believed that. You worried about College- where would you go-and could you afford it? School in general- Taks Test, passing math, and of course AP English. Also during your sophmore year, One-act Play brought several concerns and stress- would the thing you loved be taken away because people couldn't pass and also people quit? Your family was going through a lot of things. Gammie was very sick with lung cancer- it was terminal- and you hated to think of what was about to come. Your Mom was having a horrible time with her health, RA, a bad back, and several other health problems. It was very scary. Also, all the violence in the world was very scary ,too. Why couldn't people just get along- or agree to disagree? Why did someone shoot someone, or molest a kid every day on the news? Also, you woried about Lauren Little, you prayed everyday that she would eventually get better- you thought positive though. Several things that stressed you and worried you, you had no control over. However, that was what scared you, not being able to help people, or just make everything right. It was very tiring, I hope that you still don't fret over the small things.
When you weren't at school or doing other things with the church, you loved to hang out with friends. Sleeping also was one of your fav. activites. A Saturday full of reruns from your favorite shows- American's Next Top Model, or Grey's Anatomy were your top two, was also a great way to spend a lazy day. You loved to babysit your twin cousins, Brynn and Caleigh. They could always make you smile. Reading, spending time with BB, and listening to music was also fun for you.
You hoped that you would go to college and get the letters behind your name that you needed to do whatever it was that you wanted to do. Your ideas changed about every week, but the one thing that you wanted to do was to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. But really all you wanted was for you to stay true to who you were, and not change for anyone. I hope that you are happy and still are Macie, whoever that may be right now as you read this.
When it came to relationships and future plans, you wanted to find the love of your life. However, you did not want this "Mcdreamy" to come along in college-you wanted to finsh college and get your degree. You knew that you were a procrastinator, and if you stoped going to college , you would never have the push to pursue it. Also, you wanted your family to stay connected the way that yall always were. As for kids? WHo knew? But at 16- sooooo not yet...they were too much work for you- and besides, you were still a kid yourself. You had a lot of things you wanted to do in your life, and i hope that you have fulfilled some of these dreams!
