Thunder

Lightining can also produce powerful sound wayves. The electrical energy in lightning rips electrons off atoms and it cuauses the atmosphere to heat up to temperatures of about 25,000°C, which is sevearl times hotter than the surface of the sun. This heat causes the air in the path of the bolt to expand producing thunder.
